1–2 weeks before closing: call or go online with each provider and request service to start on your close-of-escrow date. Sellers typically stop their service that same day, so a gap means no power or water when you get the keys.
Deposits & IDs: most providers ask for a photo ID, your new address, and sometimes a deposit if you have no prior history with them. Cities that bundle water, sewer and trash on one account only need one call.
Internet: installation appointments can book out a week or more, so schedule that one early. Availability is street-by-street; check your exact address with each provider listed.
Fire protection: inside city limits and tax-funded fire districts there is nothing to set up. If your address shows Rural Metro, that coverage is by paid membership and is worth arranging before you move in.
